Welcome to the Kettering City School District, via our website! The Kettering School District is a great place to go to school. Our students continue to produce the kind of test scores that place us in the “"EXCELLENT WITH DISTINCTION" range on the State Report Card. The graduation rate at Fairmont High School is 98 percent, with the vast majority of graduates moving on successfully to higher education or specialized training. ACT scores are well above the national average.

 

The Kettering School System has fabulous facilities, strong Career Education and Special Education departments, award-winning music and art programs and a great menu of extracurricular activities that is second-to-none.

 

At the elementary level, in addition to a great education in a caring environment, we offer before-school and after-school care, after-school clubs, a kindergarten enrichment program and extensive pre-school programs. I am proud to serve as superintendent of the Kettering Schools and am looking forward to working with the Board of Education, teachers, staff members, parents and community members to continue the district’s fine tradition of excellence.

 

This is certainly an interesting time in public education, even more so because of the challenges we are all facing due to an uncertain economy, the rising cost of operations and cuts in state and federal funding.

 

As a district, we will be challenged as never before in the months and years to come to “do more with less.” School districts face many of the same challenges brought on by a faltering economy that our personal households do. Our board, administration and staff members are pulling together to “tighten our belts” so that we can meet these challenges. Our commitment to our supportive parents and community members and to prospective residents of this fine community – is to continue the tradition of providing our students with the very best in educational opportunities as we work hard to operate our district as efficiently and effectively as possible.

 

I love Kettering; it is a vibrant, dynamic community. The Kettering School System has always been a critical cornerstone of this showcase city. I intend to work very hard to continue this highly successful relationship.
